Dallin's grandma passed away last week. (Rough year for our grandparents, huh?) While we are so thrilled that she is out of physical pain and is back with abuelo and has her mind back, the manner which my sweet mother-in-law found out was less than desirable.
Abuela passed away Monday night and my mother-in-law found out Thursday through FACEBOOK. Her sister in Argentina said she tried to contact her and called and left messages three times but Caller ID doesn't support that. In this day and age of technology, it's hard to believe that you just can't get ahold of somebody.
My heart breaks for Mary since people aren't embalmed in South America, they have to be buried within 36 hours, so abuela was passed on and buried before she even found out her mother had died. It's given the whole family a lot of unrest without any closure. Also, to comprehend why we weren't notified - it's just exacerbated the situation.
This Thursday we're going to the temple as a family and to have a memorial service to remember abuela and hopefully get some closure. Abuela is a part of so many wonderful family memories and I feel so privileged that we were able to see her just a short month ago.
