Bliss

To counter the blues, there are some really amazing things about having a newborn. Zoey brings such a peace to our home. She is so patient (except when she's hungry!) and really is a good baby. We're trying to figure out our days and nights but I'm sure we'll get there.

She has this cute little dimple right next to her mouth.

She has this velociraptor squeal. I don't know what it means and it's just one little scream. Her other screams and squeals sounds like Maggie sometimes. We have to figure out which one it is! I guess after hearing Maggie for 9 months I'm not surprised.

Maggie has done really well with Zoey. She's actually kind of indifferent to her but is protective as well. She's always very aware of who is holding her and will sometimes bark at the person.

Zoey has to have her hands by her face.

I think her eyes are going to go brown. Her hair is such a fluff ball after a bath - it sticks out everywhere.

Nicknames include: Zozo and Munchie - short for Munchkin. Don't worry, she's been called Maggie and puppy too.

She had a bruise on her thigh when she was born from where her legs was crunched up against my rib.

She is an absolute angel.  I don't know what I did to deserve such a GOOD baby.  I'm so glad she got her dad's patient and laid-back personality.

I love seeing your cute little baby girl. Isn't it amazing how when we meet that baby we know they fit in with us just as they should!? Baby blues are tough. Each of my babies have brought their own challenges. With Ada it was discovering I couldn't control everything. My milk never came in and I felt like a complete failure... until I saw her growing up healthy and happy and realized that it was okay. With Sammy it was baby blues. I just lived for the second that my husband walked through that door... The thing that helped with that was being distracted until my hormones settled down. Making the extra effort to go take kids on walks, talk to friends, have friends over for dinner, see my sisters. It didn't make it go away, but it made it doable. With Evelyn it's the fact that she might be my last. I don't want that to be the case. What if she the last baby I could cuddle at any hour? What if, what if? I have faith in you as a mother. You were a great missionary and dealt with things that needed to be handled. You will be the best mom Zoey could ever ask for.
